Stone Faces of Naples

This series originated simultaneously with  is the Corona lockdown.
In 2017  I was in the archaeological museum in Naples and took close-up photos of faces of weathered sculptures. I was triggered by the transience of these weathered faces. One of the themes in my work is man and his inability. Much of my work is related to the skin or intended as skin. I am not looking for perfection but looking for the beauty in the imperfection: attracting and repelling… This prompted me to physically edit the photos from Naples.

In the series ‘Stone Faces of Naples’  I started with a new method that follows from my collages. I cover the photos with another layer by scratchen the photo, perforating them and coloring them with skin tones.
